I heard Wilhelm Bruns and Sebastien Salm play two Telemann Suites, 3 movements from the Water Music and the Brandenburg 1 plus and encore by William Boyce last Monday night with the Rebel Baroque Ensemble.

Bruns is a fabulous natural horn player. The only note he covers is the printed F, and then only slightly. His approach is to open the hand to correct pitches rather than to stop.

I have never heard anyone play the baroque repertoire with such precision and aplomb as Herr Bruns and I must say that most horn players would be very happy with themselves if they remotely approached the quality of these performances WITH VALVES!. His Mozart Concertos are due out in January on CD.
I can assure you that I will be "first in line" to get a copy of that!
